The Body Shop Make-Over :D

A few weeks ago I went to the Valentine VIP-Party hosted by the Body Shop in Leeuwarden, with a few lady friends/Lushies from Leeuwarden.

We were welcomed with a glass of prosecco, heartshaped chocolates and some other heartshaped candy.

We were able to try everything, smell everything and there were some discounts and sales (like a 50% discount on a body butter when you bought a perfume).

You could also get a free make-over :D, which I did!

I've been looking for the right foundation for ages!
It has to be light enough for my pale skin, and it can't make me orange (when it's too dark) or grey (when the foundation is to rosy).

I first tested 3 foundations on my hand:
1 mineral foundation in the lightest colour and 2 liquid foundations in the 2 lightest colours.
The looked good on my skin!

Then I got a make-over by one of the employees of TBS.
She tested different colours of foundation on my skin and then chose colour number 4.
This was a very light colour, but there are 3 lighter colours which must be extremely light!
(So if you are looking for a light foundation, look no further than the Body Shop!)

After the foundation (Moisture Foundation SPF 15 in the colour 04) she applied powder on my face to mattify my skin and a bronzer (from those cute bronzing pearls) as a blush.
Then she applied eye shadow from shimmer cubes in nude and brown shades and also a terracotta colour.
She also framed my eyes with a dark eye pencil and gave my lashes a thick layer of mascara.
Then she put some dark eyebrow powder between the hairs in my eyebrows.
After that she applied some clear gloss to my lips and my make-over was done!

I looked nice, but it wasn't a daytime look.
It was better suited for a night out, but I did like it a lot.

It felt a little strange walking around with so much make-up on my face, but I got used to it and I got some nice comments.

I felt weird going to the supermarket wearing this.
I couldn't figure out why everyone was staring at me *rolls eyes*, until I got home and looked in the mirror :D.
Yes, it was a bit much for grocery shopping ;).

When I made these pictures it was about 1.30 in the morning and there wasn't enough light.

The colours where much brighter, darker and more sparkly than they look on the pics.
On the pics it doesn't look like I'm wearing much make-up, you can barely see the foundation, and the smoky-eyes don't look very smoky ;).

I made these pictures 7 hours after the make-over so the make-up lasts really well on my face (even though I had a fever and kept touching my face).

De foundation still looks perfect, the blush is less prominent (which I like) and all the eye make-up is still perfect as well.
What surprises me is that the eye shadow didn't crease even though I wasn't wearing an eye shadow base.
Off course the lip gloss was gone, so I applied Merry Cranberry Lip Balm (also by the Body Shop) for the pictures.

I was very happy with this make-over and I'm thinking about getting a make-over more often.
The employees of TBS really know a lot about make-up and colours/skintones and what looks good on someone, and they also know how to apply it ;).

If you ever get the chance to have a make-over I really recommend you take that chance!
Also, if you happen to go out after that that's two birds with one stone :D.

Rainbow Cupcakes :)

In december I baked rainbow cupcakes with my boyfriend.
They were yummy but also beautiful.

After making the cake batter we scooped the batter in to multiple plastic cups and added different food colours.

As you can see, we used the colours:
*orange
*red
*pink
*purple
*blue
*green

Then we added a small layer of each colour in each silicon cupcake thingy (they are the pink ones) or the paper cupcake thingy's that are in the cupcake pan..

We did not have enough of each colour since my boyfriend was a bit excited in the beginning and used to much, but that doesn't matter, because they still looked great :D!

The we put them in the oven.

Out of the oven they looked like this:

As you can see, the colours are very bright.
But wait...it gets even better!!!

Aren't those colours amazing!!!?

And after I took a bite out of it :D :

Even the cupcake paper looks like a rainbow.

I'm at my boyfriend's place and the recipe is at my place, so maybe some other time ;).

NOTD: OPI - Clubbing Til Sunrise

I got this polish through the Make-Up Ruildoos (a trading box for make-up) from the Dutch Lush Forum.
I took some items from the box and put some items in the box.
This amazingly warm and cheerful polish was one of the things I took.

This polish contains MUCH more polish than I'm used to *shock*.
For example, the Essence Colour & GO polishes (you know, those small bottles) are 5 ml, the regular Catrice polishes are 10ml and the LE Catrice polishes are 8ml.
This OPI polish however had a whopping 15ml of polish in just 1 bottle!!!
OPI also sells mini's but I don't know how much ml they contain.

On the bottom of the bottle, you can find the label with the name on it.
This beauty is called "Clubbing Til Sunrise".
At first I read Clubbing Till Sunrise instead of Clubbing Til Sunrise and I already put the wrong name on the first pic of this post, so I had to redo that *rolls eyes at herself* :P.

This is the first time I used an OPI polish and I was curious to find out if it was easy to use, if the polish wasn't too thick, if the coverage was good, if it didn't apply too streaky, etc.
Let's just say it met my expectations.

First, I applied a layer of Catrice's Smoothing Base Coat.
Then I gave Clubbing Til Sunrise a good shake and roll, and started polishing.
I found out that this polish had the right thickness and that it was easy to apply.
Also, it was pretty fast drying, even when you apply 3 coats (which I did ;) ).
The polish applied a tad bit streaky, bit this is always the case with pearly or metallic polishes, so I don't mind the least.
As you can see, the coverage is great!
I applied 3 coats, since I usally do that and tend to like it best this way, though 2 coats could be enough with this one.

Then, the colour.
I think it's gorgeous!
As a rule I tend to like orange polishes, especially if they aren't creamy, but a nice metallic/pearl/shimmer/glitter.
This one is a great addition to my orange polishes, since it's darker and more metallic than the other orange polishes in my stash.
Also, since it's easy to apply and dries really fast, it's easy to use when you don't have a lot of time or don't feel like doing your nails.

I used a layer of Catrice Ultra Long Lasting Top Coat on top of this polish, and was able to wear this for 3 days (with 2 days being completely chip free!).

There's only one downside to this nail polish.
For the first time ever, I got bubbles in my nail polish.
Maybe If I don't shake the bottle next time, but roll it around in my hands, there will be no bubbles :D.

Conclusion: Great polish! Not too thick, easy to apply, not too streaky, dries really fast, great colour and long lasting.

NOTD: Catrice - Biscuits & Cupcakes

I made this NOTD last week, but couldn't find the time to post it, so here it is :D.
This NOTD was made with the polish "C04 Biscuits & Cupcakes", a Limited Edition polish from the Catrice Urban Baroque collection.

I read on other blogs about the sheerness of this product, but decided to try it for myself, and boy, am I glad I did!

The packaging of this polish is very stilish and pretty.
The bottle has the same shape and colours as the regular Catrice nail polishes, though it's a bit smaller, and there are some nice graphics on the cap.

The brush is about the same size as the regular ones, which isn't small but not big either.
To me this is the perfect brush size, since I can't polish my nails with extra broad brushes (yes, I'm thinking of you, Miss Sporty!).

Usually, the consistency of Catrice is pefect (not syrupy or runny, just easy to work with).
This one howerver, is a bit thicker.
Not syrupy yet, bet definitely thicker.
I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to get it right, because of the thickness, but it actually worked out ok in the end :D.

Like I said, this polish is sheer.
A lot of people couldn't get enough coverage, but luckily I did!
I used a smoothing base coat by Catrice (works a bit like a ridge filler), then 3 layers of this polish, and then a nice layer of Ultra Long Lasting top coat (also by Catrice).

When I was done, I was astonished!
I had damaged 4 of my nails, while polishing, and just covered it up with a bit of polish, but when I was done, my nails were completely smooth :D.
My nails had a very nice pink colour, they were completely smooth, and it simply looked like I had my nails done professionally!
This never happened to me before.
Also, 30 minutes after my top coat, my nails where complety dry, and I couldn't dent them anymore, which isn't always the case.

Conclusion:
You need to really take the time for this one (unless you have a very fast drying top coat like INM Out The Door or Seche Vite), but you will get great results :D!
The consistency is thicker than most Catrice polishes, en definitely thicker than I'm used to, but with a little patience you will get amazing nails, though it is a bit difficult.
Also, you need to apply 3 coats.

If you don't have a lot of patience or time, don't buy this one.
On the other hand, if you don't mind a little work and love the colour, I would definately recommend this.

C04 Biscuits & Cupcakes is a polish from the LE Catrice Collection "Urban Baroque", and is sold in January at drugstores "Trekpleister" and "Kruidvat" for €2,49 (I think).
If you would like to buy this, I suggest you hurry.

Essence I Love Berlin & Catrice Urban Baroque Haul

Last week I stopped by Trekpleister and Kruidvat and picked up some items from the Essence - I Love Berlin collection and the Catrice - Urban Baroque Collection.

I love the packaging for both the Essence and the Catrice products.
So far I haven't tried the palette yet, but the colours look nice.
The green nail polish, I have tried on my toe nails and they are now a fantastic bright green :D.
I Haven't tried the Illuminating Powder either, but I have high hopes for that one.
The light pink polish is now on my nails and looks very pretty.
Also, the lipsticks are awesome too.
I tried them yesterday and I love them.
I'm thinking I will need to buy the other colour too ;).

When I will be feeling better (got hit by the flue again *sigh*) I will do a post with more product pics and swatches :D!

New Catrice Collection: Urban Baroque (January 2011)

Essence isn't the only one coming out with a Limited Edition Collection in January next year.

Catrice also has a great collection for us in store, called "Urban Baroque".

First, they have made 3 eye shadow duo's in the colours Candelabra, Feather Fan and Fleur de Lis. These are all light coloured eye shadows with pretty packaging, and they will cost €3,49 each.

There are also 3 lipsticks in this collection YAY :D!

I love the lipsticks Catrice makes, and these 3 sure are pretty.

Purple tones look good on me, so I think these would be a great catch!

The casings of the lip sticks are gorgeous, and so are the lipsticks inside ;).

The names are Marie Antoinette, Elisabeth and Victoria and the will cost €3,99 each.

I love the names btw, they are so cute!

Then, on to a very interesting product: the Illuminating Powder.

A lot of bloggers have been wanting this product, so it will probably sold out fast.

It's called Masquerade Ball and will retail at €4,49.

Isn't it a beauty!???

I love the artwork on the outside and I'm curious to what effect the Illuminating Powder will have on my skin!

There is also a powder brush to go with the Illuminating Powder.

It's a bit expensive for a Catrice brush (€4,59) but it is prettier than their normal brushes!

Also, there are 4 great polishes :).

They are pretty nude/pastel colours and bang on trend.

Available in the colours: Pearls & Chains, Barock & Rock, Princess & Ballerina and Biscuits & Cupcakes.

I don't know how much they will cost, but I'm guessing the price will be about €3,-.

Lastly, there are some stick-on tattoos.

They all have the words Urban Rebel on them.

I don't know what they are prices either.

I'm thinking about getting the Illuminating Powder and the lip sticks, and probably also the nail polishes.

I might get the eye shadows, but I definitely won't buy the tattoos.

Review: BPAL: Ghoulish 2010 (Halloweenie)

I don't own a bottle of this one, only an imp.

Therefore, the picture above isn't mine.

Ghoulish is the bottle on the left.

GHOULISH
This season's Ridiculous Scent! Creepy like Creepy and as spooky as Spooky, this is the scent of a black cherry and coconut amaretto confection gently laced with saffron.

Price: You can't buy them anymore since they were a Limited Edition, but the price for a bottle was probably around $17,50 for a 5 ml bottle.

Packaging: The bottle looks just like the other Bpal bottles, and the label you can see on the picture above.

How to use: If you have an imp, dab it to your wrists and then some onto your finger and dab it with your finger behind your ears, on your neck and between your breasts (if you are a woman ;) ).

If you have the bottle, use a wandcap (they are sold separately) or do what I do: use on of those

plastic things you use to stir your coffee or tea with when you are out.

Throw it away after use, this way your perfume oil stays clean :D.

In the imp: I smell something spicy and peculiar that is also sweet.

Immediately after putting it on: It smells like amaretto and almond spice too me. The scent is very strong and sweet and you can smell the liquor.

A few minutes later: The almond spice smell has become way less strong. I still smell something sweet, something spicy, some liquor like scent and something fruity.

About 15 to 30 minutes later: I smell something sweet that I think is coconut. I also smell something that is fruity, though I don't know what. I smell liquor and spice but can't identify those notes either. To me it smells exactly like liquorice allsorts (also know als English Liquorice) and especially the pink and yellow ones with coconut on the outside and liquorice on the inside.

After about an hour and a half: The scent is getting deeper. It's a little less sweet and and the notes are blending better into one whole scent.

I still think its liquorice allsorts in a bottle an I love it.

When I look at the notes that are in there and I smell my wrists, I can identify the individual notes.

The amaretto was the most prominent smell when I first put it on, but now isn't that strong anymore. It has combined with the sweetness of the coconut, though I smell the coconut much stronger. The fruit that I smelled appears to be the black cherry. The black cherry note is sweet and fruity, but not sugary sweet, more like fruity sweet.

I don't know what saffron smells like but I do smells something lightly spicy that must be the saffron.

After that, Ghoulish gets less coconutty over time. It becomes less sweet and more mellow I think.

To me it seems that the coconut and amaretto notes are becoming less noticeable with the saffron getting stronger and the black cherry is also more noticeable.

Still all the notes are there.

The liquorice allsorts scent is changing into something lighter, but it is still there, just different.

Pro's:

*great smelling perfume oil

*cute label

*a bottle will last you ages

*not tested on animals

*not very expensive ($17,50 is approx. €13,21)

Cons:

*this perfume was a Limited Edition, so not available on the BPAL website anymore :(, only on ebay and it will probably cost a lot this way (or you can buy/trade it on the BPAL Forum!)

Verdict: Great perfume oil that smells exactly like liquorice all sorts!!!

After a few hours the scent starts to fade and changes into a milder scent.

I think this is probably one of those perfume oils that you have to reapply during the day if you want to keep smelling like liquorice allsorts.

If you don't mind the changing scents during the day, there is no need to re-apply, because even after a few hours this perfume will still smell great, just different!

Like most BPAL perfumes, this one keeps changing throughout the day.

All the notes are still there but one moment one note is stronger and 30 minutes later another note is stronger. So basically, you are wearing a different version of the same scent all day long, and the version keeps changing and changing during the day :D!

This is what makes BPAL perfume so interesting and exciting.

Rating: I give this an 8 because the resemblance of liquorice allsorts is genius!

If the scent remained the same for longer I would have given it a 9.

Would I buy this again: yes.

Is it bottle worthy: if you like foody scents (perfume that smells like foods you know) or if you like weird/strange/peculiar/odd/unique/etc. scents, this definitely is bottle worthy!!!

New Essence Collection: I Love Berlin (January 2011)

Essence usually has a limited edition collection every month or every two months.

For January 2011, that limited edition collection is called "I Love Berlin".

This collection was made in collaboration with the winner of the "Be A Trendmaker" competition, Yasmin Teufert.

As you can probably guess, this collection was inspired by Berlin.

In this collection you find a lot of bright colours and it's definitely a different collection than the previous ones by Essence.

These Eye Liners are called (from left to right): Love This City, Green Grass, Buddy Bear, Berlin Story and I'm A Berliner.

They will retail for €1,99 which is a good price.

I especially love the green one (Green Grass), though I would love to own them all, since the colours are so versatile and you can make great looks with them.

Next up is a pretty eye shadow palette with 9(!!!) eye shadow colours!

You can make a lot of looks with that :D.

The outside of the palette is already gorgeous and cheerful.

This would be a great palette to carry in your purse/bag.

As you can see, there are some pastel and neutral colours in there, but also a dark blue, bright red and a black colour.

The name of this palette is Style Victim and it will cost €3,49.

Also in the collection are some cooling eye pads.

You simple put them in the fridge and then on your eyes so you can relax and your eyes can cool down, It would probably help against dark circles and under-eye puffiness as well :D.

This product is called Cool Down and will be priced at €2,49.

Since you can use these pads again and again, this is a bargain!

There aren't any lip sticks or lip glosses in this collection, BUT there are two lip balms :D.

The pink one is called Love This City and the other one is called City Lights.

They will be sold for €1,99 each.

I'm mostly curious about the pink one.

I think that one will look great!

Then on to the nail products!!!

For this collection Essence has made 5 nail polishes, 2 matte tip painters, 2 sets of nail stickers and a nail file to be used with the nail stickers.

These stickers cover your whole nail, so you used them instead of nail polish.

The designs are called Berli-Nail and Berlin Calling and retail for €1,99 each.

Though I think it's original, I don't think I want to walk around with these designs on my nails, so I won't be looking out for these.

There is also a nail file to be used with these nail stickers.

You use it after putting the stickers on your nails to file the edges smooth.

This one costs €1,29.

I really love the nail polishes in this collection.

They are so different!

From left to right: Love This City, I'm A Berliner, Green Grass, Buddy Bear and Berlin Story.

As you can see, these polishes match the eye liners so you can match your nail polish to your eye liner :D.

Love This City and I'm A Berliner are pastel colours, Green Grass and Buddy Bear are bright colours and Berlin Story is a black colour.

These great polishes will retail for €1,79 each, which is amazingly cheap!

Green Grass is my absolute favourite here, and if it looks like the promo pic I will definitely need more than 1 bottle!

I probably want the other polishes as well though *blush*.

And last, but not least, the matte tip painters :D.

These matte tip painters come in two colours: Berlin Story and Green Grass.

Needless to say, I want them both ;).

I don't own any tip painters or stripers yet, so these would really come in handy!

They will cost €1,99 each, which is cheap to me.

Anyway, these are all the products of this Essence collection.

It will be in stores in January and in the Netherlands you can find it at Kruidvat (and maybe at Trekpleister).

Review: Catrice: Multi Colour Compact Powder 010 Rose Beige

And....another Catrice review today ;).

Today it's Catrice Multi Colour Compact Powder.

This product is sold in two colours and I own 010 Rose Beige.

Price: I can't remember the exact price since I bought it a month ago, but I think it was approximately €4.

Packaging: It's round and see-through with golden letters on it. The compact powder is easy to open and easy to close.

Consistency: It's a very soft powder that's easy to use and isn't very crumbly.

As you can see, the powder has a pretty pattern :).

How to use: You use a big powder brush or a kabuki brush (or a blush brush if you don't have anything else) and sweep it trough the pan. Then tap the brush with your finger to get rid of the excess powder. Now you can apply it on your face using circular motions (if you use the kabuki) or regular strokes (if you use the powder brush or blush brush). Make sure you don't use to much or your face will get too matte and you wrinkles will show more. You don't have to powder your complete face either. Sometimes it can be enough to use some powder on specific places (like where you used concealer or foundation, to set it, or on on shiny places).

The result: I expected this powder to make me look a bit ashy and to emphasize my wrinkles (they are not huge, but like most people I have them too ;) ), but that was not the case.

To my surprise my wrinkles did not show and my complexion was glowing.

This compact powder is much better than what I'm used to and I love it!!!

I don't have any pictures of me wearing it, since my camera isn't good enough to show the difference between wearing the powder and not wearing the powder, but I have swatched it on my fingers.

Pro's:

*not very expensive (approx. €4)

*not a limited edition, so easy to come by :)

*soft texture

*the powder isn't crumbly

*doesn't make you skin look ashy

*doesn't emphasize your wrinkles

*the packaging opens and closes easy

*Catrice doesn't test on animals

*makes your skin glow :D

*the powder has a pretty pattern

*suitable for pale faces

Cons:

I really can't think of any cons!

Verdict: Great compact powder that doesn't make your skin ashy or emphasize your wrinkles. It's well-prices and easy to come by and the packaging opens and closes easily. The powder has a pretty pattern and the powder isn't crumbly. It's easy to use and gives your skin a nice glow.

Also, Catrice doesn't test on animals and this powder is suitable for pale faces!!!

Rating: I give this an 8 because it's a good product, but probably not as good as high-end (though I've never tried that) and doesn't have extreme cover (it's sheer).

Would I buy this product again: yes!

Review: Catrice: Bright Blush C01 Tickled Pink

This blush by Catrice was a limited edition from the limited edition line "Expect The Unexpected" that was sold a few months back.

It is a really bright blush, and sadly the pictures don't do it justice.

I forgot the make a picture of the back of the blush, sorry!

As you can see it's a really bright pink colour that would probably look good on most people.

You can apply it REALLY bright and heavy (IF you would want to do so) but also very subtle (which is more my style ;) ).

Swatched on my finger tips:

The packaging is very pretty.

This blush has a packaging that is very solid, easy to open and pretty.

Unfortunately, it doesn't close very well :S.

On the front you find the name of the brand and the type of product, and on the back you find a label with the name and number of the colour and some additial information.

This blush contains 8g and it cost me between €3 en €4, which isn't expensive at all!

The fragrance is nice and not stinky at all and the powder feels very soft on your skin, but isn't crumbly!

Pro's:

*cheap

*can be applied subtle or heavy (pretty pigmented)

*colour that suits most people

*pretty packaging that's solid and easy to open

*smells nice

*soft powder that isn't crumbly

*Catrice doesn't test on animals!

Cons:

*it was a limited edition that isn't available anymore

*the packaging doesn't really close

Conclusion: Great blush that can be applied both very subtle and very heavy. The colour suites most skin tones (except very dark ones), the formula is soft but not crumbly and the blush is cheap and not tested on animals. Sadly, it was a limited edition so hard to come by and the lid of the product doesn't really close.

Rating: I would rate this product an 8 because it isn't easy to come by and the packaging doesn't really close.

Would I buy this product again: yes.

Review: Catrice: Absolute Eye Colour in 010 Mars Attacks

I bought some products of the new and improved make-up line by Catrice a few weeks back, and I thought it was about time I show you the pics and swatches :D!

First up: Catrice Absolute Eye Colour in 010 Mars Attacks

This eye shadow duo contains a very shimmery dark green and a matte very light green that is almost a mint green without any hint of blue.

The packaging is really nice, much better than the packaging they had before.

It ain't fragile or difficult to open (like the MNY eye shadows are).

You get 3g of these fabulous eye shadow for around €3 (forgot the exact prize and can't find the receipt, sorry!).

When you look at the swatches, you see that the dark green is almost black-green:

It's much darker than I had expected, but nevertheless gorgeous!

On the left you see the dark colour lightly applied, in the middle the dark green applied normal, and on the right the light green applied normal.

The dark green is very dark and very pigmented.

The light green was not so pigmented, but it might be different used on an eye shadow base and used on my actual eye ;).

The eye shadows are soft and not too crumbly.

The colours are pretty, very pigmented and easy to blend.

I would rate the dark green a 9 and the light green a 6 (because it isn't that great!).

I would recommend this eye shadow duo for the dark green, since it's awesome.

Also, I love the name :D.

It's the name of a Tim Burton movie about aliens and it's pretty funny!

Review : The Color Workshop: Lip Gloss

Today I will review some lip glosses by The Color Workshop that I bought a few weeks ago.

The Color Workshop is a cheap make-up brand that you can buy at some drugstores (Kruidvat and Trekpleister) in the Netherlands.

The prices of their products are low, but the quality isn't that great either.

I bought a set of lip glosses for a few euro's (probably didn't cost me more than €2,-).

Each lip gloss contains 3,3 ml of gloss, and sadly, there aren't any names or numbers on it to tell you what color it is :S.

Anyway, I have a clear gloss and a peach gloss with glitters and shimmer :D.

The clear gloss looks really clear on my lips:

It doesn't feel sticky and the lasting power is ok.

I think this one is nice to wear over a lipstick.

I like the shimmery peach a lot better!

It isn't as pigmented as I hoped it would be, but it does give my lips a bit of colour and some nice shimmer :D.

(Sorry for the blurry pic, but it shows the colour well, and also the shimmer!).

The colour is subdued and the shimmer isn't too much, so this gloss is great for wearing to work or school and when you can't/don't want to wear too much make-up.

The glosses smell sweet and fruity (which I like) and aren't sticky.

Also they last longer than I expected.

Pro's:

*cheap

*nice smell

*non-sticky

*lasts long enough

*nice subtle gloss

Con's:

*even though it's cheap, the glosses are very small!

*there aren't any numbers or names on the glosses to tell you which colour it is

*the glosses are a bit difficult to open

*they aren't very pigmented, so if that's what you are looking for this isn't for you.

Conslusion: cheap lip gloss that smells nice and looks ok. They aren't sticky and last ok, but the glosses are small and don't have any name/numbers and aren't very pigmented.

This probably isn't suited for most people, but it's nice if you don't like to wear make-up very often and want it to be subtle, and also to give to children/teenagers as their first lip gloss.

Rating: I would rate this a 6, since it ain't bad but not good either.

Would I buy this product again: no.

Review: Lush: Karma Shower Gel

I'm a big fan of shower gels with amazing scents and great hydrating and caring properties.

That's why I have quite a large shower gel collection, a different scent/effect for every mood.

The shower gels I love the most, are the shower gels by Lush.

Because of that I will review a shower gel by Lush today: Karma !!!

Karma Shower Gel is a shower gel that was a special edition for Queensday in the Netherlands this year.

It was only sold on that day in the Dutch webshop, and they only had around 30 bottles or so!

I had to be really quick to order to get myself some Karma.

Luckily, I ordered in time and was able to get a hold of 2 250g bottles :D.

Karma SG comes in a see-through bottle with a big black label and white letters and the Lush logo.

The packaging is simple but it has a luxury feel to it.

The cap is easy to open (which comes in handy if you've polished your nails ;) ) and the cap is also easy to close (so it won't leak in your bag!).

Karma shower gel has a deep orange colour.

It looks brown in the bottle, but out of the bottle it is orange.

This shower gel lathers up easily and you can wash your hair with it as well (though conditioner will be necessary then).

This shower gel smells deliciously like the signature Karma scent of incense, lemon grass and orange oil (amongst others).

To me this shower gel smells a bit sweeter than the Karma soap and it doesn't smell as lemongrassy as the Karma Body Lotion either.

After showering I can still smell the fragrance really well on my skin and hair.

The scent definitely lingers much longer than is the case with a lot of other shower gels :D.

My skin also feels really soft and hydrated, though I still use body lotion afterwards (I like it when my skin is hydrated at its best :D ).

Karma shower gel isn't as hydrating as Snowcake shower gel or Butterball shower gel (both Lush) but more hydrating than The Comforter shower gel (also Lush).

Pro's:

*smells nice

*ergonomic packaging

*you can also use it as a shampoo

*hydrates well (as far as a shower gel can)

*the scent lingers well on skin and hair after showering

*vegetarian

*made with natural ingredients

*the ingredients and the products are not tested on animals

*the suppliers of the ingredients don't test on animals either

*doesn't contain a lot of chemicals (and the chemicals used are safe)

Cons:

*it's a limited editon shower gel, so it isn't easy to come by and probably also expensive!

*it was also expensive when I bought it (approx. €15,00 for a 250g bottle!!!)

*when used as a shampoo you really need to use a conditioner

Conclusion:

Great hydrating shower gel with the scent of Karma.

If you don't like the Karma scent, this isn't for you.

If you do like the Karma scent, you will love this :D.

Sadly, it's expensive and hard to come by :(.

Would I buy this product again: Yes!

Rating: 7,5

Because: it's a great shower gel that smells wonderful and hydrates well, but it's expensive and hard to come by and you really need conditioner afterwards.

EOTD: Purple Haze

Okay, the name is anything but original, but today I finally found the time and energy to play with my make-up and photograph an EOTD :D.

As you can see, it's a purple themed EOTD (o really...lol).

I used some products by HEMA, Catrice, Essence, MNY and Rimmel.

The pictures are pretty dark and don't show how vibrant the colours really are, but hey, what's new.

I was also wearing Catrice Lip Appeal Lip Gloss in Hello, Darling! , but I made the pics a few hours after applying it (and having dinner) so that was gone already.

How to:

(I forgot to use an eye shdow base :S.)

First use the HEMA Eye Shader in 12 (a shimmery, light, lavender colour) on the whole lid except the inner corners and the outer v.

Then use the HEMA Eye Shader in 06 (sliver) on the inner corners and the HEMA Eye Shader in 14 on the outer v.

After that use the bigger eye shadow brush to blend the cream shadows a bit.

Now take the smaller Catrice Eye Shadow Brush to apply the Catrice Absolute Eye Colour in 230 Where Is My Caddy-Li-Lac (a lilac colour) on the whole lid.

And blend again.

Now use the MNY eye shadow in 517 in the crease.

Blend it wel and blend it well above the crease, so you can see it with your eyes open as well.

Now use the L'oreal eye shadow under your eye brows (on your brow bone) as a high lighter (did I spell that correctly???) and blend it with the shadow in the crease a bit, so the shadow in the crease looks less harsh.

Then use the silver eye shadow from the Essence Quattro on the inner corners and blend it well.

After that, use the MNY eye shadow in 529 on the outer v, and once again, blend it.

Now use the dark silver colour of the Essence 2 in 1 kajal Pencil on your lower waterline.

And the Black Rimmel Kohl Pencil on the upper waterline.

After that, curl your lashes with a lash curler, and then comb them through with a lash comb.

Now apply the Essence mascara.

After that all you have to do is apply the compact powder with a brush and apply the lip gloss.

That's how I did it :D (sorry for the bad written tutorial btw!).

Today I will review the Hydra Specific Facial Care products by Yves Rocher.

I ordered them a few months ago, because I was searching for good facial care with a smaller price tag than Lush.

What I bought:

*Hydra Specific Soft Foam Cleanser

The new, 100% pleasure way to remove make-up
Get a well moisturized skin, just like that!
Soft Foam Cleanser lathers into a creamy foam to clean my skin with mildness. When rinsed, my skin is supple, sparkling and ready for facial care.
To finish my make-up removal: I spray Tonic Water Mist on my skin. This fresh mist wakes up my skin and leaves it moisturized.
Tested under dermatological supervision

Key botanical: Maple Sugar, Hamamelis water

Plus point:
A foam texture that’s ultra-sensual, creamy and light

Price: I bought it from the Dutch webshop, where it retails for €10,90 for 150ml, but I probably got it with a 40% or 50% discount.

Packaging: It's in a translucent blue plastic pump bottle, with a white pump and translucent cap.

There is a print on it in white and blue, and the packaging looks, fresh and sophisticated and gives a spa-like and expensive feeling.

Ingredients: Can't find them on the website, and typing them all is too much work, sorry!

Smell: This cleanser smells a bit watery, but doesn't have much of a smell.

Consistency: It's a foam when it gets pumped out of the bottle.

How to use: You wet you face, take off the cap and pump a few times, until you have enough product on the palm of your hand. Then massage it onto your face using circular movements (focusing more on the dirtier patches of you face) until you think you've cleansed you face enough. Then you rinse it off and when you are done showering (or washing at the sink), pat your face dry. It's best if you use the Hydra Specific Tonic Water Mist and the day or night cream as well!

Before putting the cap back on the pump, rinse the pump!

The result: Usually, after using a face wash, my face feels squeaky clean, but also dry and itchy :S. However, with this one my face felt clean but also hydrated and it wasn't dry or itchy at all!

My face was soft and hydrated and clean and ready for my facial care.

It's ok at removing make-up, but it isn't s great for removing make-up as an actual make-up remover!

Pro's:

*cleans well without drying your skin

*at actually hydrates your skin

*easy to use because of the pump bottle

*cheap (the price is low but Yves Rocher usually has sales and discounts as well!)

*easy to come by (by mail, webshop or phoning), most country's have their own webshop

*not as natural as Lush, but loads more natural than a lot of other brands

*combines great with the other Hydra Specific products, and will give you great skin if you use the whole line!

Verdict: Hydra Specific Soft Foam Cleanser does exactly what it should! It cleans your skin, but it doesn't dry your skin, but instead hydrates it. So you get clean, soft, hydrated skin, which I love. It's one of the few face washes that doesn't dehydrate my skin which is a plus!

It's also cheap and easy to come by, and more natural than a lot of brands.

It also isn't tested on animals.

Rating: I would rate this a 8,5 (out of 10), because it a great product, cheap and easy to come by and also more natural than a lot of other brands!

Would I buy this product again: yes!

*Hydra Specific Tonic Water Mist

Quite simply, well moisturised skin.
Ideal to finish cleansing the face, toning mister effectively eliminates all trace of make-up, tones the skin and provides first moisturisation. The ultra-refreshing texture procures a pleasant sensation of cleanliness and freshness. Result: the skin is moisturised and supple, gently reviving the radiance of your complexion.

Price: €7,90 for 150ml at the Dutch webshop, though I got it with a discount :).

Packaging: A nice, blue, see though plastic, spray bottle, with an interesting shape.

It has a white and blue print on it, and it gives me a luxury feeling and makes me think of spa's.

Ingredients: Can't find them on the website.

Smell: It smells a bit like an aqua scent. Quite nice actually!

Consistency: Since It's a toner, it's pretty watery.

How to use: There are 3 possible ways of using this product:

1) when the weather's hot, spray it on your face during the day/night whenever you and your skin need to be refreshed.

2) spray it on a cotton pad and wipe the cotton pad over your skin. It's probably wise to use more than one cotton pad and to spray a lot of tonic on them, so you really clean your skin well, take off all the left-over grime, and prepare your skin well for your moisturiser.

3) when you are in a hurry or need to be refreshed, just spray a few sprays on your skin and spread it with your hands.

Done!

The result: My skin felt refreshed and soft! I also found that my skin absorbed my moisturiser better :D.

Pro's:

*refreshes your skin and makes it soft and makes your skin absorb moisturiser beter

*greatly refreshes when the weather's hot\

*easy to come by

Verdict: Great tonic, that refreshes you, makes your skin soft and makes it easier for your skin to absorb your moisturiser. Also cheap, easy to use, easy to come by, pretty natural (compared to other brands), though not as natural as Lush and not tested on animals. In other words: a great product!

Rating: I would rate this a 9, for the above reasons!

Would I buy this product again: yes! (I've used up a few bottles of this over the years, actually.)

*Hydra Specific Moisture Boost Cream Gel Day

Quite simply, well moisturised skin.
The perfect day care for dry to dehydrated skin. Procures 24 hours of well-being to the skin, reveals its radiance and original beauty.

Price: €13,50 for a 50ml pot (which I have) or €9,50 for a 40 ml tube. I got it, again, with a discount :D.

Packaging: Glass pot with a silver/grey lid. There's a print on the pot in white and blue. The loom gives me a luxury feel and makes me think of spa's.

The pot originally comes in a small box, which I had already thrown away before making the pictures.

Ingredients: Aren't listed on the website.

Smell: A nice aqua smell :D.

Consistency: Like a cream. Not heavy like a body butter at all. It's like a mix of a cream and a gel. Lighter than the night cream.

How to use: First use the face wash and the toner, then massage the Hydra Specific Moisture Boost Cream Gel Day into the skin of you skin, neck and cleavage.

The result: Most facial creams make my skin either greasy, dry and itchy, or a combination of those 2. My combination skin was very happy with this day cream though! It made my whole skin hydration, but it didn't make my skin greasy (especially my T-zone tends to get greasy) and it didn't give me any dry spots either. My whole skin was hydrated and felt soft.

It also got rid of a lot of redness in my face, which made my skin colour look a hell of a lot better! Another thing, which I though was miraculous, was that it made my wrinkles almost invisible *shock*. I guess I probably got wrinkles because my skin was dehydrated, and now my skin is hydrated so well they almost don't show anymore.

I also noticed my pores getting a little bit smaller, and that get less blackheads.

I still get pimples every now and then though, but they are gone faster than usual :D.

Pro's:

*smells nice

*is easily absorbed by the skin

*makes skin soft and hydrated without making your skin greasy or dry

*makes the appearance of wrinkles much less, because it hydrated so well

*makes your pores a bit smaller

Verdict: Great daily moisturiser, that makes your skin soft and hydrated, without making it dry or greasy. It makes wrinkles and pores less visible, makes you get less blackheads and makes pimples go away faster. Also cheap, easy to use, gets easily absorbed by the skin, easy to come by, pretty natural and not tested on animals. One of the best moisturisers I've tried in a long time!!!

Rating: I rate this a 9,5! I want to give it a 10, but I won't since It's not as natural as Lush.

Would I buy this product again: most definitely yes!!!

*Hydra Specific Deep Replenishing Care Night

Quite simply, well moisturised skin.
Containing a high concentration of maple sap, it helps regenerate skin during the night, soothes and relieves stress. The comfortable texture reveals your skin’s original beauty. On waking, it feels at ease and replenished.

Price: €15,50 for 50ml, but I got it with a discount ;).

Packaging: This cream comes in a glass pot with a silver/grey lid on it. There's a white/blue print on the pot, and to me it looks expensive an makes me think of spa's

Ingredients: They are not listed on the site!

Smell: I though at first that it smelled like an aqua scent combined but butterscotch, but now I know that that butterscotch smell is actually maple sap :D.

Consistency: It's a thick but light cream. Not runny but also not like a butter at all. It's lie a mix between a cream and a gel. It's a bit heavier than the day cream.

How to use: After using the Hydra Specific face wash and toner massage this night cream into your skin (don't forget your neck and cleavage!).

The result: This is a real miracle product! For some reason, this night cream makes me look beautiful when I wake up and get out of bed *shock*! You are supposed to look rubbish when you get out of bed, but with this product it's the opposite. My skin is very well hydrated though not greasy at all. All the redness that I usually have in my face is completely gone, and so are my wrinkles. Also, this night cream gives me a nice, radiant glow. It's incredible!!!

Pro's:

*makes skin very well hydrated

*completely gets rid of the redness

*makes wrinkles disappear almost completely (because it hydrates so well)

*gives skin a radiant glow

*makes you beautiful when you get out of bed!!!

Verdict: Amazing product that makes you roll out of bed looking like a movie star! Hydrates skin very well, doesn't make it greasy. Gets rid of redness, makes wrinkles less, gives skin a radiant glow. It gets easily absorbed by the skin, is easy to use, cheap, easy to come by, pretty natural and isn't tested in animals!

Rating: I can't do anything other than rate it a 10 (even though it isn't as natural as Lush)!!!

Would I buy this product again: yes yes yes yes yes!

As you can see, these products are pretty great!

I don't always use the face wash, but I really can't go without the toner and the day cream, and especially not without the night cream!!!

Game: Fable III

Today I'm posting about something that isn't beauty related.

Yesterday, my boyfriend bought a new game: Fable III (for the XBOX 360).

I have Fable I and Fable II as well and they are my favourite games!

Naturally, I was really excited when my bf came home with the 3rd Fable ;).

I was curious to find out, if it was as good as the previous 2, and let me tell you: it is!!!

In this game you play a prince or princess that has to lead a revolution against your brother (the king!), in a world called Albion.

You have to help people in need so they become you allies, and off course you need to fight using melee weapons, shooting weapons and magic spells.

The decisions you make (good or evil) will make you become who you are.

If you are pure and only do good deeds you become angelic, but if you do evil you wil become devilish.

Being good or evil also shows in your appearance (for example: when you're really evil you get horns!).

Like in Fable II you also have a dog in this one, which you can train to fight and find treasures :D.

The only thing I dislike about this game so far, is that the game play is different in a lot of ways and therefore takes a few days of getting used to.

Since I just started yesterday I'm still in that process, but I'm learning :).

MNY:Eye Shadow Review and Swatches

I went a bit overboard with the eye shadows, since I bought eleven of them!

MNY has some colours that were not in my stash at all (like bright red and green but also some lighter peachy and pink colours), so I needed them to complete my stash

As you can see, the colours I bought range from peaches and pinks, through bright red and purple shades, through brown and some green and blue/green shades.

Please keep in mind that I took these pcitures at night with lamp light, which makes the colours appear different then they are.

The shimmer and glitter doesn't show well on these pics and sometimes the colour on the pics is completely diferent than in real life.

When that's the case I'll mention it though, so no worries!

A lot of colours are shimmery, but in the frosted kind.

That means that it is shimmery without any type of really fine glitter (which most shimmery eye shadows have).

From left to right: 317, 229, 213 and 329.

The first 3 are shimmery (the frosted kind) and the fourth one is matte.

*317 is a shimmery peach (probably the most shimmery of these 4 eye shadows).

*229 is a shimmery light pink (less shimmery than 317).

*213 is a dusty rose colour, it's pink, it's a bit of a light puce, this one is darker than 317 and 229.

*329 is a matte bright red, it's quite fierce!

From left to right: 529, 517, 537 and 417.

The first two are shimmer (frosted), the third has both shimmer (frosted) and some glitter, and the fourth one is shimmer (also frosted).

*529 is a pretty shimmery purple with blue undertones and is much lighter and brighter than on the pics.

*517 is a shimmery magenta like purple which is like a mix of magenta and purple, definitely not the pink you see on the pics and a lot lighter and brighter as well.

*537 looks dark grey on the pics but in reality it's a dark, dusty purple mixed with grey, it has shimmer and fine glitter in it(not those awfull big chunks!).

*417 is a shimmery brown colour, but nowhere near chocolate or something like that, more like a taupe colour (without the purple or grey) and more like messing/bronze/copper. A bit metal like. The green hue you see on the pics doesn't exist in reality.

From left to right: 729, 737 and 637.

These are all shimmery (the frosted kind) though 637 is more shimmery than the other two.

*729 is a bright shimmery lime green that is ligther and brighter than on the pic.

*737 is a light shimmery teal colour (love this one!) that's, again, lighter and brighter than on the pic.

*637 is a bright shimmery petrol colour that's brighter and more blue than on the pic.

As you can see I really need to make some good pics during day light, so the eye shadows show their true colour!

When I find the time to make new pics, I'll post them.

Now, onto the swatches (these were also made at night with lamp light):

*All the shadows:

From left to right: 637, 737, 729, 417, 537, 517, 529, 329, 213, 229, and 317.

*The peach, pinks and red:

From top to bottom: 317, 229, 213 and 329.

As you can see, 317 is a light golden peach.

229 is a light pink, and 213 is a darker dusty rose kind of pink.

329 is a red colour that isn't as bright as it is in the pan, but much more red than it shows on the pic.

*The purples and the brown colour:

From top to bottom: 529, 517, 537 and 417.

The colours are brighter and more shimmery in real life.

As you can see, 529 is a shimmery, blue-ish purple, 517 a shimmery, magenta-like purple and 537 a dark, grey-like shimmery purple with fine glitter.

417 is a brown-ish colour with shimmer, that's really pretty!

*The greens and blues:

From top to bottom: 729, 737 and 637.

The colours are brighter and more shimmery than the pics show.

729 is a light, bright, lime green with a little shimmer, 737 is a light, bright teal with a little shimmer and 637 is a nice bright petrol with more shimmer than the other two.

As for the quality, most of the eye shadows have enough pigment, though most colours were not as bright on skin as in the pan.

Most disappointing was 729 (the lime green one) since I was hoping for an extremely bright result.

That wasn't the case, but I still think it's a nice eye shadow!

The colours would probably be a lot more pigmented if used over an eye shadow base though.

When I use my brush to get eye shadow out of the pan, there is some loose powder coming off it, but that doesn't bother me much.

The eye shadow has good staying powder and I really like it (especially if you realise they only cost €2,49 each).

The only downside is that the eye shadows are a bit difficult to open at first.

There is a transparent sticker keeping it closed that you need to take off first.

After that opening can still be a bit tricky, but you get the hang of it after opening a few boxes, so that isn't a problem either.

Sadly, I managed to scratch my red eyeshadow being clumsy trying to open it :(.

Pro's:

*lot of colours available

*cheap (€2,49 each)

*available at all Etos stores (except the ones at train statins)

*enough pigment (especially when used on an eye shadow base)

*the eye shadow feels soft

*doesn't break when you drop the pan on the ground (I did!)

Cons:

*crumbles a bit when you sweep your brush over it

*if you like extremely bright results, these shadows probably aren't pigmented enough

*the pans are a bit tricky to open at first

*MNY is a part of Maybelline which tests on animals!!!

I would rate these 7,5 stars, because they are good and cheap, but not amazing, and because Maybelline tests on animals.

Would I buy this again: Yes!!!

MNY: Lip Gloss Review and Swatches

Last week, MNY finally started selling their make-up in the Netherlands.

It's only available at Etos stores (all stores except for the ones at train/bus stations).

MNY has a great collection of make-up items, all with a maxium price of €3 :D which is great.

At the display, the products aren't sorted by product, but by different colour lines (I think there are like 6 or 7 different lines).

This means that at each colour line the products are sorted by product.

For example: at the pink product line you find blushes grouped together, lip glosses grouped together, eye shadows grouped together, nail polishes grouped together, etc.

MNY has a lot of natural colours but also a lot of brights, in short: something for everyone!

Also they have a Limited Edition collection every 2 months.

I bought a lot of MNY products (because each 2nd product was half price!).

So I got a lot to swatch and to review :D.

This post will only be about the lip glosses.

I'll blog about the eye shadows, blushes and nail polishes later!

I bought 3 lip glosses (from left to right):

*365 (a peachy/coral like coulour with golden shimmer)

*377 (a raspberry red/pink coulour with silver shimmer and glitter in it)

*581 (a dark, plummy pruple with silver, blue and purple shimmer in it)

As you can see, MNY products don't have any cute names (like the Catrice products have), they only have numbers.

I would have liked names + numbers better because names are easy to remember and numbers are more difficult to remember.

MNY probably has a good reason to only use numbers though.

The lip glosses with flash:

You can really see the shimmer on the photo's.

Like I said, the peach one has golden shimmer, that looks really good on the lips.

The red one is red in the tube, but raspberry on the lips and has silver shimmer and glitter in it (though the glitter is really subtle).

As you can see on the pic, the purple is the most shimmery of these 3 glosses.

It has silver, blue and purple shimmer in it and is gorgeous on the lips.

I swacthed the lip glosses on the back of my hand first:

With flash, from left to right: 581, 377, 365.

Without flash: 581, 377, 365.

In real life the colours are darker than on the pics.

They are also more shimmery.

Now, onto the swatches on the lips:

*365 (the peachy one)

Sadly, the pics don't show the golden shimmer very well (since I made the pics with my MacBook instead of my camera), so in real life it's a lot more shimmery and the colour is also more golden and less ordinary.

The coverage of this lip gloss is great and it doesn't get into the lines of your lips.

*377 (the red raspberry one)

As you can see, it is more of a raspberry colour than a red.

However in real life, it's darker, brighter and more raspberry than on the pic.

You can see a little silver shimmer and glitter when it's on the lips but it's very subtle.

It doesn't show on the pic though.

The coverage of this lip gloss isn't as great as the other two.

Therefore it's probably better to wear on top of a lip stick or lip liner than on it's own.

This one doesn't get into the lines of your lips either.

*581 (the plummy, purple one)

It's a very vibrant an shimmery purple.

The shimmer doesn't show very well, but when wearing it it really shows!

It's a bit darker than on the pics and a but more purple.

Just like the other two, this lip gloss doesn't get into the lines of your lips.

These lip glosses aren't sticky, or balmy or barely there.

Nevertheless they stay on longer than lip glosses by Catrice, without being sticky.

Also they smell fruity.

A few bloggers have described the scent as chemical, but I actually love it.

It's probably best to smell the lip gloss in store before you buy it.

The lip glosses were €2,49, I think, which I think is a bargain, especially for the quality and the great colours.

I would rate these lip glosses 9 stars and I would definitely buy these again.

Gosh Autumn Look

For the blog Oh My Gosh I made this Autumn Look.

She has a give-away with Gosh products, and to win those goodies you have to make an autumn look, with at least a few Gosh products, based on a photograph you like.

I chose this picture:

I love the warm red and orange tones, and I thought they were beautiful colours to use in an autumn look!

The Result:

It turned out to be a bright, warm autumn look, that reminds me of the leaves you can find in forests and on the streets.

I think this is actually wearable.

It's definitely suited for party's but it can also be worn in the day if you like to wear bright make-up (not a great idea for wall flowers, because you WILL get noticed wearing this ;) ).

The pictures don't show the colours of the make-up very well.

In real life the colours were MUCH more intense.

Sadly the cam on my macbook makes the colours less intense (and blogger dulls them as well :S ).

How I made this look:

First I used a lot of liner perfector in mu whole face (except for on mu eye lids and under my eyes) and let it dry for a few minutes.

Then I used the eye primer on my eye lids and under my eyes and the lip primer on my lips.

I let that dry for a few minutes too.

After that I used the mattifying powder on my whole face (except for my eye lids, under my eyes and on my lips).

Then I started on my eyes.

First I used the waterproof eye shadow base on my lids.

Then I applied the orange colour of the Essence Return To Paradise Palette on the inner corners of my eyes.

Following by the copper colour of the Lacura duo on my lid.

Then I blended thos two shadows.

After that I used Catrice Spiced Bronze on the middle of the part of my eye where my inner corner and the rest of the eye meet (I know that sounds a little vague, but I don't know how to explain it better!).

Again, I blended the shadows together.

Now it was time to use the red colour by MNY (nr 329) on the outer v and inn the outer part of my crease.

And I blended it again.

Then I used the Sparkling Eye Shadow by wet & wild in the crease and blended it together.

This shadow was really bright and sparkly and just wonderful!!!

The last shadow I used was Spice Red by Catrice on the outer part of the outer v.

Once again I blended it together.

Then I added some more red eye shadow to make the eye shadow symmetrical on both sides and blended again.

Now I used the kajal pencil, then the lash curler, lash comber and then the mascara.

On my lips I used the lip liner which I lined my lips with, and then I filled them in with the liner as well.

On top of that I applied the Soft N Shine Lipbalm by Gosh (amazing product I tell you!)>

On my nails I applied the Gosh nail laquer in Orange drops and my autumn look was finished!

As you can see I used a lot of Gosh, Essence and Catrice products.

I really like those brands, because I like the colours, because they are good quality and they aren't very expensive (though Gosh is better quality than Essence and Catrice and also higher priced).

I never used to use Gosh, because I used to think that even though the products looked great (I love the bright and vibrant colours), I thought they were too expensive for me at that time and I didn't know if they were any good.

Then I read about Gosh products on Jasmine her blog (Oh My Gosh) and she wrote and showed that they were awesome.

I first bought a few of the tinted lip balms and I thought they were great.

The Jasmine wrote about the primers on her blog and I bought them all and a mattifying powder.

I love those too and I ended up buying a few stunning nail polishes as well.

I have yet to try the lip glosses, lipstick, eye pencils, eye shadows, mascara's etc. , but they are probably great as well!

I'm not that great with make-up yet, I just started working with brushes and primers and I barely know how to blend, but I love playing with make-up an creating looks, so I hope that counts for something.

Venemous Villains Look For Blogginbeauties: Drusilla

Here's my look for the Venemous Villains Give-Away of Bloggin Beauties:

I'm not a big fan of villains (I always want to be the good one in movies etc.) but if I could play any villains in a movie it would be Drusilla (from Buffy The Vampire Slayer).

That is because she is special.

She is a psychic which gives her special powers (seeing the future and knowing things she shouldn;t be able to know amongst other things) which I would love to have, and she's also a vampire.

Beside the obvious fact that vampires are wicked cool (duh!) they are also strong and very difficult to kill AND they don't age (so no wrinkles or gray hair!!!).

This all seems awesome!

I wouldn't like the blood drinking or the sunlight avoiding, but if I was Drusilla I wouldn't think twice about draining a human.

Drusilla has a period of time where her health is bad and she's very weak, also she is a bit mental/crazy.

Because of this she sometimes behaves like a little girl, making sad face and sobbing sound and waving her hands in the air in a strange way.

When she's strong however, she doesn't look like a sad little girl at all!

She can be mean and show her teeth.

And she can smile in a horrifying way that tells you she's got something up her sleeve and that she's going to do something deadly and bloody to someone of her choosing.

-drinking fresh human blood

-causing mayhem

-misleading and torturing (preferrably) innocent people

-anything that pisses the slayer off

-having crazy tea partys with her dolls (which she also tortures)

-predicting the future and knowing things she shouldn't

What I used on my lips:

How I made this look:

First I applie Velvet Touch Line Perfector (Gosh) all over my face and wait a few minutes.

I also applied the Velvet Touch Eye Primer (Gosh) on my whole eyelids (till the brow) and under my eyes and let it dry.

Then I used the DA concealer under my eyes to mask the dark circles, and then I took the Allround Concealer Palette (Catrice) and used the green concealer to cover any red areas (most of my face).

My face now looked a bit pasty with a greenish hue.

After that I mixed the foundation with the white grease paint in my hand, till I got a very white colour that still had skin tone and applied it to my face with the foundation brush.

I evened it out with my finger tips to make it more natural.

My face felt sticky because of the grease paint and it also looked shiny, so I set the foundation/grease paint with a lot of the Purple Passion Transparent Mattifying Powder (Catrice) (using the kabuki-like powder brush).

Now that was done, I could start on the eyes.

First I applied Soft Eye Shadow Mono Velvet Matt in 060 Nude Beige (Catrice) on the whole lid and in the crease.

Then I applied a little of Expert Wear Mono Eye Shadow in 05 Ice Fudged/Marron Glacé (Maybelline New York) on the lid over the light eye shadow but not too much) and made a thick wing with it (till my brow).

I also applied a little in the crease.

I blended it all and then I used Soft Eye Shadow Mono Velvet Matt in 030 Grey Stone (Catrice) on my outer v, on half 2/3 of the wing and a bit in the crease.

Then I blended it all together.

Now I used Earth Spirits Eye Shadow in 110 Onyx (Max Factor) on the outer part of the wing to define the wing as a bit of a liner (though very wide).

I blended everything together and added more eye shadow where needed to make it into a nice, blended whole.

After I was done with the eye shadow, I used the Soft Kajal Eye Pencil in Black (Rimmel) on my upper and lower waterlines, and applied the Natural Touch Sensitive Eyes Mascara (Catrice) to my lashes.

After that I used the Eye Brow Pencil nr 11 (HEMA) to make my eye brows fuller and darker.

Now all that I needed to do were the lips.

I put some Velvet Touch Lip Primer (Gosh) on my lips and let it dry.

Then I line my lips with Kajal Designer in 120 Chocolate Brown (Catrice) and smudged it so it didn't look as dark.

And last but not least, I applied the Colour Gloss Lip Gloss in 080 Secret Mauve (Catrice).

When the make-up was done I changed into a black gothic dress, put on a necklace that matches the theme and I put on a long black wig to finish the look.

I hope you liked this look even though the pictures aren't that great (bad lighting).

Review: Yves Rocher: Detangling Styling Water

Since I had a smaller budget for cosmetics, I decided to try some Yves Rocher products (since they are a lot cheaper and because I can order them from the NL webshop and without a credit card).

I bought some deororant rollers, skin care products, some hair care products and some random other stuff.

A lot of those products were 2 for the price of 1 or 50% off the price, so I got a good deal on everything ;).

I bought 3 hair products to make my hair smooth, to detangle it and stop de ends from being frizzy.

I actually have really good hair.

It's smooth because it's so fine and it's very long (somewhere around my waist).

However, I've mostly been using hair products by Lush the last few years, and as you might now, those products are made without silicones.

And that matters how?

Well...silicones creater a layer around your hair, that makes it smooth and frizz-free and easy to comb through.

Since I was using Lush, I didn't have a silicon layer around my hair to keep it detangled.

So my hair was constantly in knotts and tangles and just generally messy (especiall after riding my bicycle).

That's why I bought some Yves Rocher to solve this problem (in winter my hair gets even more stubborn, and it's already fall).

The products I bought were:

*a 3 in 1 shampoo to make my hair smooth in less time (no need for conditioner)

*a detangling spray

*a hydrating 1 minute hair mask (though it says on the pot you're supposed to leave it in or 2 minutes!?)

Today I will review the detangling spray.

The spray comes in a see-through green bottle with a black spray-cap.

The label is white with black and green letters and a picture on it.

I feel like the packaging has a natural and expensive vibe.

However, the bottle is €8,90 for 200ml (though I payed less for it).

This is pretty cheap.

How to use:

After showering you spray it on towel-dry hair.

You can use a little, but if you haven't used any conditioner and/or your hair is a tangled mess you can also use a lot (I do that regularly).

You just spray a few sprays on top, a few on each side and a few on the back and then smooth your hands over your hair and you're done.

Easy huh :D !?

The Result:

When my hair dries, it looks more supple and has more volume.

It is shinier, it's smooth and easy to comb and best of all: the ends aren't frizzy at all!!!

Great about this spray is that it doesn't make my hair greasy :).

My hair gets greasy easily (that's why I need to wash it every day), but this lotion doesn't make it any more greasy than normal.

So, you only get benefits from this product!

Also it smells lovely like blossoms (that's probably since there are blossoms used to make this ingredient).

This product isn't as natural as Lush's products are.

It's comparable to The Body Shop (only better).

There are safe chemicals in this products but also natural ingredients and extracts (that's why it works so well!!!)

Pro's:

*does a great job on making your hair smooth, frizz and tangle free and makes it easy to comb

*doesn't make your hair greasy

*smells lovely like flowers

*isn't very expensive (and a little goes a long way)

*often you get this for less than the full prices

*you can order this in most countries (most countries have their on webshop and mailorder)

*Yves Rocher is more natural than a lot of other brands, and uses more natural ingredients and less chemicals, and also a lot of biological ingredients

*Yves Rocher is kind to man and nature

*Yves Rocher doesn't test on animals (anymore)

*this product doesn't contain parabens

*free delivery if you order for more than €25

*free gifts with your order

*much better, cheaper and more natural than other detangling sprays I've tried (like L'Oreal)

Cons:

*not for you if you hate the smell of flowers

*isn't completely natural, uses more chemicals than Lush, in that case Yves Rocher is similar to The Body Shop, though I think Yves Rocher has better products and is way cheaper!

*isn't handmade (unlike Lush)

*there aren't a lot of Yves Rocher stores left in the Netherlands, so it's hard to go to a store to sniff and try the products

Conclusion:

There barely is anything negative to say about this product!

It works a treat, smells great, is cheap, easily to come by, not tested on animals, etc.

The only downside is that it isn't as natural as products by Lush (but that's also why it works so well, those are the chemicals at work!).

Would I buy this product again: hell yeah (I'm think about stocking up on this one, bye bye frizzy-detangled mess called hair!).

Rating: 9

I give it a 9 because it's amazing. It would have gotten a 10 if it was more natural, but hey you can't have it all!

LOTD: Firetruck Red

I've been wanting to post a pic of red lips for a while now, and since I got the perfect red lip liner a few weeks back, I thought it was about time :) to post a red LOTD (Lips Of The Day).

Products I Used:

- Catrice Lip Designer in 010 Ruby Red

-H&M Rich Lip Gloss in Rumba Red (bought it a while back, so it probably isn't available anymore)

I'll post a pic of the products I used later on.

I can't make a pic now since the battery of my cam is dead *sigh*.

The Lip Designer is very soft and easy to use.

I was able to line my lips perfectly, but because it's so soft the tip broke off when I was filling in my lips, so I had to sharpen it again.

Note to self (and everyone reading this ;) ): don't apply to much pressure on the tip!

The lipgloss isn't very sheer.

Used on it's own it isn't opaque, but used over a lip liner (when you've filled in your lips with one), it isn't sheer at all.

The combination of this lip liner and this lip gloss is a brillant red that's lightly shimmery.

It's glossy but not at all sticky.

On my lips it feels like I'm wearing liquid lipbalm ,though I've got no idea if that exists :P .

The Result:

This LOTD is really easy to make (you don't need to be a pro), it's cheap (not high-end products needed for this one!) and very wearable.

Review: Lush: 9 to 5 Facial Cleanser

A few weeks ago I participated in a Lush UK GO where I ordered a few Lush things, including 9 to 5, which I had heard great things about.

The packaging is simple.

It's sold in a black bottle in 2 sizes (95 and 240g) and I've got the big one.

There's a black label with white letters on the bottle.

Somehow, because of it's simplicity, I think this product looks like luxery.

The products itself is white.

9 to 5 is scented with a flowery scent that reminds me of (though it's definitely not the same) Ghost Shower Gel and Lily Savon Soap (both Lush).

How to use:

Sqeeze a dollop on your hand and rub it on your skin where you want it cleansed.

Then use a wet cottonpad or washcloth (use warm water) to take the product and the make-up dan dirt off your face.

If you're only cleaning your eyes, using a cotton pad is fine.

If your cleaning your whole face (and especially if you have full face make-up on), using a washcloth may be better.

9 to 5 can also be used for taking your make-up off before showering (I certainly do sometimes ;) ).

I think 9 to 5 is really easy to use (definitely easier than Ultrabland, though Ultrabland may cleanse better).

You just rub it on your skin and then take it off with warm water and a cotton pad/washcloth.

Afterwards (after patting my skin dry), my skin feels really soft and hydrated.

It wouldn't even be necessary to moisturise because it already feels hydrated.

Nevertheless, it's wise to use a night/day cream anyway (to help your skin repair itself during the night, to reduce pimples, etc.)

The day after (I've only been using this before bed) my skin still feels soft and hydrated and looks fresh.

However, one time I didn't wash 9 to 5 off my eyes well enough, so they were a bit puffy :(.

Pro's:

*smells great

*makes your skin soft and hydrated

*it's easy to use

*it isn't very expensive (if you order it from the UK it's £7,95 for the big bottle)

*the packaging looks good in your bathroom

*it wasn't tested on animals

*it's vegetarian

*it's easy to come by (shops and webshop in the Netherlands, the UK Germany, other European countries, the USA, Canada and Australia, among others)

Con's:

*it doesn't clean extremely thoroughly

*if you don't like flowery smells, its not for you

*if you order it from the Netherlands or in a Dutch Lush shop, it is expensive (€14,95 for the big bottle)

*it might make your eyes feel and look a bit puffy if you don't clean the product off your eyes very well

Conclusie: reasonable prices, easy to use cleanser that has a nice flowery smell.

It takes grime and make-up off your face, but it isn't a cleanser that cleans extremely thorough.

Also, take the product off your eyes well enough, or you might get puffy eyes.

I really like and recommend this!!!

Would I buy this product again: YES!

I rate this product 8,5 stars, because your eyes can get a bit puffy if you don't wash it off well enough.

FOTD: Neutral Gold

This isn't actually today's FOTD (today I'm only wearing mascara ;) ).

It was a FOTD I made somewhere last week.

It was late and therefore dark, so the lighting is a bit rubbish.

Cupcakes :D

Last saturday me and my friend Marloes decided to bake some cupcakes.

The cupcakes are coconut-vanilla-cinnamon cupcakes and they tasted yummy en sweet.

These were decorated with white(-ish) and green marzipan and black pearls.

We coloured the green marzipan with Wilton food colouring.

The little figure on the middle of the plate is a snowman :D.

He looks kind of weird but it was fun making him.

And these were docorated with fondant glazing.

We put it in the microwave to melt and added some electric purple food colouring.

On top of that we put black pearls and some easter themed sprinkles (eggs, butterfly's, hearts and flowers).

You can't really see it, but the cupcake papers (I'm sure there's a different word for that I don't know) are red with white dots, really cute!!!

We had great fun making, decorating and eating them.

Perhaps we should do this more often ;).

How To Fold An Origami Frog

This is a tutorial on how to fold origami frogs!

You're probably thinking...why would I want/need to fold an origami frog!???

Well...for starters: they are awesome and cute and hop (if you fold them correctly), they are easy to make AND you can use them for your Halloween costume?

Halloween costume???

Yes, I will post a tutorial on how to make a Halloween costume with origami frogs later today (made especially for Serena Verbon).

What you need:

*a table to fold on

*paper to fold (any paper that's in a square, folding paper or special origami paper)

And here's how you do it:

1) You choose a piece of paper and lay it flat on the table.

2)You fold it in half.

3) You fold the paper open.

4) You turn the paper clock-wise.

5) Again, you fold the paper in half

6) You fold the paper open.

7) You turn the paper upside-down.

8) You turn the paper clock-wise so that one point is pointing down.

8) You make a diagonal fold.

9) You fold the paper open.

10) You turn the paper clock-wise.

11) You make another diagonal fold.

12) You fold the paper open.

13) You then have to fold 2 out of 4 sides in so that you get a double triangle.

14) Then fold the right side downward (in half) to form the base of the leg/back.

15) Do the same thing on the left side.

16) And fold the right leg half back.

17) Do the same thing on the left side.

Now you have legs :).

18) Turn the frog upside down (now it looks kinda like a kite with legs ;P ).

19) Now fold the right side upward (in half).

20) Do the same thing on the right side (it starts looking like a frog).

21) Now fold the right side half way down.

22) Do the same thing on the left side.

23) To make the frog able to jump, you have to fold the legs up about 1 cm.

24) Then fold it back half a centimeter.

25) Now your frog is ready to jump :).

Some froggies:

If you want to make the Halloween costume you are going to need a lot, so you better start folding ;).

I made this one a few months back, but I thought I'd share this one anyway.

These are the products I used

From left to right: Top Coat (Catrice), Smashing Orange Nail Polish (MAX), Base Coat (Catrice) and French Glam Nail Stickers by Essence.

I never tried Nail Stickers before, but I found out the ones by Essence are easy to use.

Once you put them where you want they stay put!

And this was the result

I really love these nail stickers!!!

You don't need to be a pro or have nail art experience.

All you need to do is paint your nails, place these stickers where you want them, and add a layer of top coat.

It really is THAT easy!

I spotted this on I Heart Cosmetics , and fell in love with it instantly!

The outside of this Lush gift is supposed to be made of So White soap.

Inside there are two Russion doll shaped ballistics: So White and Cinders!

These are all wrapped together by a mini knot wrap (a sort of scarf that can be used instead of gift wrapping paper).

I wonder if both the green AND the red outside are both So White soap...I'm secretly wishing the red part to be Cinders Soap!

I don't usually buy Lush gifts, but for this one I'm willing to make an exception ;).

Mini Give-Away: Update

I've been rummaging in my stash today, and I've been shopping for the give-away this week, and I've put some things together for the mini give-away.

This will most probably be in the mini give-away:

-Snowfairy Solid Perfume (Lush)

-Blue Body Art Pencil (waterproof) (L'Oreal)

-Pink Nail Polish (Max)

-Porridge Soap (Lush)

-Snowcake Soap (Lush)

And maybe some other stuff.

I know it isn't a lot but it's called a mini give-away for a reason.

I may change the contentst, but when we reach 5 followers I will post a pic of the contents, and that will be the package I will send to the lucky winner!

Mini Give-Away

Hey all!

I bet you've noticed I haven't been blogging a lot lately, and the reason is that my mom has my camera at the moment and I usually blog about things that need pics (like NOTD's, swatches, reviews, think I baked/cooked, hauls, etc.) so that's not possible at the moment.

I will still try to post some things I don't need to make pictures of, so my blog won't be dead :D.

Anyway, I decided I wanted to have a small give-away at 5 followers (and I currently have 3, so I will need 2 more) and a larger one at 10 followers, just to keep things exciting.

I will start today or tomorrow, with putting together a package to give-away at 5 followers.

So, spread the word and the give-away will be soon ;).
